Virtual Learning Day Instuctions

“Virtual Learning Days”  refer to a day when school is cancelled due to inclement weather or other emergencies. The school board has approved five days that may be used as a Virtual Learning Day. As in the past, parents/guardians will be notified of school closings through a phone call, text, and/or email using our automated messaging system. On days when school must be closed, students will participate in curriculum-aligned learning opportunities from home. Using this approach will alleviate the need for students to make up days during scheduled vacation breaks or to attend additional school days at the end of the school year.

When weather or other circumstances prevent in-person learning, JCC High School will implement an E-Learning Day to ensure continuity of instruction while maintaining our block schedule.

General Expectations

  • Students should bring their Chromebooks and chargers home whenever inclement weather is forecasted.

  • Students without reliable internet access should notify their teachers or the high school office in advance so accommodations can be arranged.

  • Teachers will post class links, materials, and assignments on Schoology.

  • Classes will be held virtually via Google Meet beginning at 9:00 a.m.

  • Each class will last up to 30 minutes, with 15-minute breaks between sessions.

  • Students must log in on time, turn their cameras on, dress appropriately, and actively participate for the duration of each class.  Students should not be lying in bed.

  • Attendance and participation will be recorded for each block. Students must attend each class virtually to receive “attendance” credit for the day.

  • Students will be expected to complete assignments for “academic” credit within 48 hours of the e-Learning Day.

Block 1  9:00 – 9:30 a.m.   1A Skinny 9:00 a.m. 1B Skinny 9:15 a.m.

Block 2  9:45 – 10:15 a.m.  2A Skinny 9:45 a.m. 2B Skinny 10:00 a.m.

Block 3  10:30 – 11:00 a.m.  3A Skinny 10:30 a.m. 3B Skinny 10:45 a.m.

Block 4  11:15 – 11:45 a.m.  4A Skinny 11:15 a.m. 4B Skinny 11:30 a.m.

Afternoon Support

  • Teachers are available from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. for additional student support.

  • Students are encouraged to reach out via Schoology messages or email for assistance.
